Miranda July

I have been taking video art class for more than three months already. I have struggles everyday of thinking about what video art is? Is it about telling a story? Is it about long boring focus or out focus of an object? Is it about politics? Is it about something that is supposed to be poetic but in a way that no one can guess what it means? Is it about technical aspects? Is it about how to edit your footage? Is it about super intriguing visual illusion? Is it Man Ray? Is it Andy Warhol? Is it Nam June Paik? Is it Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster?

I am going to show my work to class tomorrow. This reminds me of showing my writings in the creative writing class. Watching this video made me laugh, it answers all of my questions about what is video art. I guess I should do a presentation about Miranda July in my class because I really love her work. But then I pick Pierre Huyghe. After 5 years, I was still struck by his Celebration Park Exhibition that happened at Tate. Here you go, a promo for No One Belongs Here More Than You. (should definitely click this link to see how great she is!)
